Dear APN VI participants,

We hope you enjoyed APN VI and that you returned safely to your home.

At the link given below, you will provide all the necessary information to generate ADS entry for your APN VI contributions.

Please send your contribution in PDF format to apn6@astro.unam.mx, the dead-line is 20th of January.

For posters: send the poster itself. If the poster didn't change since you sent it to us in October, don't send a new version BUT FILL THIS FORM ANYWAY.

For talks: any format (your Powerpoint/Openoffice presentation, a text document a la Word, a LaTex compiled) in PDF please. Take care of referring any figure you used.

Receipts, bills and facturas...

A little bit of explanation about the receipts: the guy making the receipts is in Miami. The girl who have the list of the reservations and payment is in Santo Domingo. The guy who knows how many nights each of us actually spent in the hotel is... in the hotel. This triangulation makes the situation a little chaotic and slow, but here we go!

After Tulum

After the visit of the Tulum Maya site, we will take the buses back to Playa del Carmen down-town for a degustation of Mezcal and Tequila at the Rufino Mezcaleria, 5th Avenue, between 28 and 30.

If you don't want to go there take the bus that stops at the hotel. This will be the bus with Gloria.

The buses let us at the Mezcaleria, everybody will have to come back to the hotels by its own (taxis or walking ~ 5km). You can eat at Playa del Carmen, there is a lot of restaurants. Take money with you, restaurant and taxis are not included...

Conference dinner

The menu for the conference dinner is based on shrimps, guacamole and chicken. If you have allergies to these foods, please tell it to a LOC member who will report to Jonnathan.

Wifi access

In the conference room, and in some places in the hotel (depending on your reception capacities) you can access the APN6 WiFi. The name of the channel is APNEBULAE and the code is APNEBULAE123

Posters, registration and welcome cocktail

The conference room is outside the main hotel building, on the access road, right side when arriving, number 14 on the following map.
It will be open from 5pm to 7pm Sunday to put your poster and to register. Registration will also be open Monday from 8am. Conference starts at 9am.
Sunday at 7pm will be the conference welcome cocktail, at the "plaza" (open air place close to the lobby).

From Cancun airport to Playa del Carmen by bus

At the baggage claim, you can buy bus tickets (ADO company) to go from the airport to Playa del Carmen. It costs 120 pesos (10 US$) and the buses leave the airport at: 10:10, 10:50, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 13:00, 13:30, 14:10, 14:50, 15:30, 16:10, 16:45, 17:15, 17:45, 18:15, 19:00, 19:45, 20:45, 21:45, 22:45.

Once in Playa del Carmen, you must take a taxi to the Wyndham hotels.

Electric sockets and plugs in Mexico

Don't forget that electric sockets and plugs in Mexico are North American type :-)

The answer is:

We will not organize excursions apart from the Wednesday one to Tulum. But you will find a travel agency in the hotel and you can register for any tour they organize. You can see with Mario Avila from the travel agency how you can organize yourself to have a tour with other APN participants, I guess he can manage this well. The same apply for the pre-conference Sunday and the post-conference Saturday.

Talks and questions

Sofia Ramstedt asked: "Is the plan for the 15-minute talks to talk for the full time and leave questions for the discussion session like at APNV, or should we leave room for questions also within the 15 minutes?"

The plan is to have 12+3 talks, as some questions are only related to your talk and not very suitable for a more general discussion. But of course the discussion slots related to each session will mainly be based on the corresponding talks.
And if you use the whole 15 mins talking, we will not allow extra time for question, as we have the discussions :-)

Comment on personal laptops

We will have a laptop with Office, LibreOffice and Acrobat PDF viewer installed. You can then bring your talk in a memory stick.
You can also bring you laptop if you want to show us movies or things that cannot be easily installed. Be sure to have the VGA connector.

Comment on poster size

The panel on which you will put your poster is 1m width by 2m high. You can have a poster of any size fitting in this place, you are not obliged to design a poster of this size exactly. Anything smaller will also work :-)

You can take a taxi from the airport to the Wyndham Hotel (take care of knowing in which hotel you go, there are at 15 min walking distance one from the other). You can also take a bus, but it will let you in PLaya del Carmen Downtown, still at 3km from the hotels.
